We are looking for an old gas pump that's probably for most people considered too far gone for restoration. We will be cutting it up to turn into a sculpture of sorts, and we don't want to feel guilty doing so. We'd like it to be for the most part complete, with guts if at all possible, but not necessary, as we can always buy some other kind of guts to give the little guy (He'll look like a little service man meets transformers if it goes right).

I've got the perfect pump for you but I'm about 2500 miles away!

I read your post in the new member's forum. I wouldn't pay to ship a rough pump. I'm sure there are rusted out, basket case pumps in every State and County in the USA. You should be able to find one within driving distance and for $50.00-$100.00.

Checked Craig's List, and there was a lube thingy in the northern panhandle, but no gas pumps. West Virginia is a little sketchy when it comes to the internet. Called the scrap yards, and the ones that had anything said something about a TV show named American Pickers (we don't have TV. Can't justify spending 65 dollars a month for something we're never home to watch), and wanted a thousand dollars for their pumps. Being on dial-up (Frontier high-speed hasn't been installed this side of 219 yet), forums and low-res websites make it easy. Ebay can get exhausting, and everything loads with little red x's, so I depend on descriptions really to know what something looks like.

You are not that far from Wayne Story's place just south of Richmond. He has a big pile of pumps that sound like what you might be looking for. If you are interested in contacting him, let me know. Brady
