I have just about finished my first portable double-sided can rack this Saturday morning. I got the pieces back from the powder-coaters on Thursday and spent a lot of Friday and today on the assembly. It was truly the dirtiest piece I have ever worked on, covered with 50+ years of accumulated oil spilt everywhere and took quite a bit of time to scrape off. Of course if I didn't do it myself I might have missed some of the bent pieces that had to be straightened before blasting and paint. I still have to get some oil decals for the two top signs and I may change out some of the earlier tins to the next rack. Yes, there is a number two and three yet to be done but at least they are a lot cleaner. I also finally have a place for my roll of Esso tiger paper towels. That's for those of us who remember the Esso slogan of 'Put a Tiger in your Tank' and the tiger tail give-away. Cheers, Don

Very cool Don.
I have one of those that I got from George. They're cool display racks. Love the tiger towels!

Here are a couple close-ups of the quarts. These portable generic rack were used by quite a few oil companies in Canada: Texaco, Imperial Oil (Esso), Shell, White Rose, British American (B.A.) in the 1950s and 60s. I even have a Husky map with a photo of a station with two of these by the pumps, both full of the the sunburst or Northern Lights Husky quarts. Cheers, Don.
