Does anybody know what a shell shaped globe might be worth. It has some small chips at the bottom from where the hold down screws chipped it. It also has a hairline crack about 3 or 4 inches long from an overtightened screw. Other than that, it is in real nice cond. The owner said he would trade it to me for a repo standard globe + some cash. I'm trying to figure out what i should offer him on the trade. thanks
I found a Fry Mae West 117! Now I need orig. parts! Base doors, cyl. rods, skin & base bolts, reg. fingers, conduit pipe, light arms & shades, & more

That crack hurts the price on the globe, is the paint in good shape? Are you sure it's not a repo? My repo has a date embosed in the bottom around the 6 inch opening.

The word "shell" is faded to pink and some of it is missing. Its not a repo, it has been in storage for about 30 to 35 yrs. It was covered in barn dirt when we got it out to use about 2 weeks ago on a pump at my car show. I didn't look at it long enough to notice if it had a date or not.

even with the damage to the Shell globe it's worth way more then your repo crown. My guess would be about $300 to $350

Dick, even at 225.00 you would likely pay 30.00 or more to ship, then it has to arrive in one piece.
Still nice to hold in your hand and decide. Depends on how it looks but I would think between 250-3???..

Unless its a Super Shell, or Super Shell Ethyl clam I think Dick is right. $225 TOPS. Keep in mind that is an extrememely common globe and its not hard to find one without damage.

thanks for all the info guys. I really didn't like the globe that much, but he wants to put it on the pump i restored for him. Quite often here, we have hail storms and i'd hate to see it get broken. I thought i'd trade with him and make it into a table lamp or something.

Speaking of a repo. Who sells the clam shell shaped Super Shell and Shell globes? I could have sworn that I saw them in an old Vics catalog but I don't see them available on anyones web site now. I hope no ones stopped making them. I really wanted one for my Tokheim visible as I was planning on doing it in Super Shell.

i also have an old Vics catalog from 2000 and they were in it as well. There is a great website called automobiliausa.com that had them. The website says they aren't currently unavailable, but he might be able to tell you when he'll get more in or where you can get one now.

Thanks, seems kinda crazy that they would be scarce now. You would think that would be one of the more popular globes. I have a neighbor with one on his pump and he got it from Vics several years ago. I just took for granted that they would always be available. Another one I'd like to see reproduced is the shield shaped Phillips 66 in the old black and orange. You would think that someone would have made those by now.

Mike Check out Scott Anderson's website, it's called "Time Passages". He still has the "Shell" and "Super Shell" clam reproductions listed. They might also be available at the other supply dealers listed on "Oldgas"
I too would like to see a reproduced 66 shield. Of course I might not feel that way if I owned a original! Oh well maybe someday...
Good Luck - Kurt
