One of the problems with being a mechanical designer for 30 years is I can hardly go to the bathroom without first drawing up a plan. The colored pictures are actually taken off the computer of the 'to scale' 3D model I created of my garage and collection. Some of the graphics on the signs were made quite rough in the name of time savings. I had a few hours into this as it was. The nozzle being the toughest to model and even that is quite crude. I just wanted to get a basic look at how things are going to look and to plan the layout a bit. Good news is, there's still room for more!! grin I've also included a closeup of what will be my Tokheim 39 tall side panel buildup. I can't wait to see the light coming out of that!! Holy ***** I can't wait to get to this point.

Kind a neat, but why just a skin on the wall rather than a real pump sitting on the floor?

Not enough room for an entire pump. Not to mention the money. This will only cost me a few hundred to do.

suggestion: some things to think about,
get rid of windows- source of entry
valuable sign space
install skylites-
install 2X6's where heavy or big signs, clocks will be
possible shelving for globes-
electrical- every 3 or 4 feet for light up signs & clocks
floor level & ceiling-
telephone- pre wire for phones
alarm- pre wire for alarm
insulation
possible space heater, fans
electrical sub panel.. cool

In addition to whats been suggested.

Sheet the inside with any type of wood/plywood, then you can paint and screw at will...by big regret is using sheetrock. Record where all your wires are at inside the walls. Run cable for future TV, even if you dont have plans, you will if your there any length of time.

I had a window added to my metal garage 6 months after I had it built. It is now covered by a Pegasus cookie cutter...lol. I havent used my side door in over a year. It will soon have a gas pump in front of it. Wise thoughts spoken above...

we used 7/16 OSB sheeting and then covered it with galvanized corrugated metal - looks great - and you can hang anything anywhere. Power outlets everywhere including ceiling and even a couple in the floor if it's not poured (you can never have to many- although even with many it will always be close but not perfect. We even ran air lines throughout the shop walls (new plastic tube system similar to Pex). Don't forget speaker wires for tunes either:) Have fun!

Thanks guys!! One of the main reasons for doing this was for electrical planning. I didn't want all the outlets to end up behind signs. But thanks for reminding me about the tv and alarm!!
As for the globes, I don't see myself ever collecting a lot of them, but I do plan to own a couple someday. I'll have to give that some thought!!

I knew a guy that needed a door for a pump. He ended up cutting about 1/3 of the sides and top off and attached it to the wall just like you have your side panel planned. He even poured a short pump island for it. He also cut Chevy Rally wheels and tires down and mounted to the ceiling with speakers behind the rims. Brady

Don't put a ton of electrical outlets at 'ground' level.

Put them at 'waist' level.

That way when you stack things on the floor leaning up against the wall (and you will), you can still get to the outlets without having to move anything.

Later . . .

Here's the number one tip, listen closely:

Whatever size you've planned - double that.

VERY SMART MOVE THERE!

I just upgraded my 3.5 car garage and unattached shed from one 15amp circuit to 4 - 20amp circuits.
