The 57 Chevy in that movie is referred to as Project X. It is the most famous magazine project car ever. It is being reincarnated as I type this. It will be featured in upcoming HOT ROD and SUPER CHEVY magazines. I am building my own 57 right now and that car is my inspiration. I am painting it Yellow just like that 57 (Prowler Yellow to be exact). The car should be coming back from the body/paint shop in about a month or so. After that, Big Block 502, Turbo 400 tranny, and everything else and I will be on the road with my own Project X. A little bit of trivia. This movie was released soon after it was made and then was not allowed to be aired or reproduced for about 12-15 years. The reason being, they never secured the rights to the songs they played on the movie. They were threatened with suit from a number of artists but nothing ever got to court. When the statute of limitations ran out, the movie was revived with a life of its own and is now standard "car guy" movie watching material. Some other movies that might interest you would be:

American Graffiti (I'm sure everyone has seen this one).
Two Lane Blacktop (They used the same Black 55 Chevy in this movie that was in American Graffiti).
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
Macon County Line
Eat My Dust

I could go on and on. They say the greatest car chase ever filmed was on the movie Freebie & The Bean. I haven't seen this movie in ages so I can't comment on it. Anyway, better get back to work. Later.

hollywood knights awesome movie!!! i like tony danza tryin to drive ol project x! he cant control it! i watched that part over & over and as soon as that 57 starts pullin hard he lets off, then he hits it again. haha the movie 2 lane blacktop is good to. i like the sound of that m-22 with those straight cut teeth whinin when they have the camera in the car. i think that engine is an LS-6 with a tunnel ram. i see those deep grove pulleys.

NOW THAT WERE ON THIS SUBJECT, ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO, THERE WAS A MOVIE WHERE A KID IN HIGH SCHOOL RACED HIS CHEVELLE TO SAVE HIS SCHOOL FROM BEING SHUT DOWN. THEY ALSO HAD "FAST FREDDYS" 55 CHEVY THAT WAS "FAST"!! THEN AT THE END, THEY RAN A BUNCH OF 55'S THROUGH THE CAR WASH TO THROW OFF THE COPS AFTER THE BIG RACE.. DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE NAME OF THAT SHOW??? I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT AGAIN.. FRANK..

You can't talk about "car" movies without mentioning The Italian Job with the Minis and how about The Gumball Rally with the Cobra and Ferrari and M-B 300 and all the others>

Sounds good Frank - By the time it reaches the last person it should be quite a bit to look through.
