I found an old porcelain North Star sign while out hunting last weekend lying in a ditch. It is the large sign probably 6 foot by 4 foot (maybe larger). It is oval in shape with the N on one half the sign and the star on the other half. It is dated 5-62, double sided and looks to be in almost perfect shape. It has the original bracket on it and the pole is lying beside it. I talked to the owner to see if I could buy it and I can but he is wanting 300-500 for it. I am not familiar with this sign or company and would like some input on it from you guys. Is the price OK? Sign to big? Not a major company ect??

Thanks,

Keith

YOUR DITCH FIND AS DESCRIBED IS AN AFFILIATE OF THE ASHLAND OIL CO.
IT WAS BASED IN ST. PAUL, MN BY THE OSKEY BROTHERS PETROLEUM. THIS LOGO WAS USED FROM 1960-1965 SO THE DATE PROVES CORRECT.
BIG SIGNS DON'T USUALLY COMMAND BIG PRICES, BUT A $300-$500 PRICE ON THIS SIGN IN "ALMOST PERFECT" SHAPE SOUND LIKE A "GOOD DEAL!"
START LOW AND SEE WHERE IT GOES.
GOOD LUCK AND DON'T FORGET TO POST IT IN B.O.T.W. IF YOU MAKE THE SCORE!

If it's in a ditch it was junk to him at one time.I had that same sign a couple years back. It was big and would cover alot of wall. No pole or frame and sold it for $300. The sign was mint, not one chip. The pole is worth that to someone who has a sign and frame from another company.
