This may be a stupid question. Alot of the signs i buy are in rings. But the rings do not have and hooks or loops to hang the ring from. Nor do they have any hardware at the bottom to mount it. My question is how were these rings used? Maybe a dumb question just wondering?

Thx Jonathan

Post a picture. Unsure what type of ring you are referring too.

Do none of you know what im talking about? The ring is round obviously and has the bolt loops at the top that clamp the sign tight in the ring but that is all.

Post a couple pictures of the sign including the clamping area of the ring. Measurements would be helpful. Rings were used on signs hanging from a tall pole and shorter "lollypop" signs.

There were a lot of different shaped rings and a lot of different devices that were either welded or clamped to the ring, to facilitate the hanging. Seems like each manufacturer had their own special way to hang these signs and some were even interchangeable.
The easiest and simplest at the time, seemed to have been the simple welding of a couple flat straps near the top of the sign, to simply bolt to other straps that hung from the pole. The more ornate signs used a clamping mechanism that usually had a loop or some other ornate attaching device connected to it, and it was a simple matter of sliding it into position on the ring and tightening it down.
I could give pics but I'm laid up for a while yet.

I don't have/need an iphonie, can you upload to an Image Hosting site then post the link/image for Forums?
