Picked this up this past week have seen other texaco signs without the black but this is a first for me. How rare of a sign is this

It's an unfinished sign. Got rejected during the manufacturing process due to a flaw. Not collectible and of minimal value when compared to a finish Fire-Chief pump plate.
Some Texaco porcelain signs had the black painted on for some reason. Not aware of any Texaco pump plates where the black was painted on.

It does look like an unfinished sign to me also. But apparently it got out and was use somehow. Hard to tell on value, I know regular fire chief plates are not that much but who knows.

But apparently it got out and was use somehow. Cheap patch on a roof/floor. All manufacturing companies have hundreds of rejects.
