Dave & others …

Why are you folks so surprised that an item bring so much money on eBay? Isn't eBay worldwide?

In my opinion, it is up to Bidders to decide to bid on an item. If a bidder thinks he/she got to have that item for that price, so be it. We all know: “KNOWLEDGE is POWER”.

In my case, I only buy signs at local bashes where I can find:

1- Real signs – Got to pay high $$$ to get that Wanted_Sign_by_Everyone. I buy to enjoy as a collector not to sell for profit. No room for that these days!
2-Repro or Fantasy signs providing prices are reasonable. Example: I paid $300 for REPRO PowerLube. What if a seller had a $1200 price tag on that? Yes, I would
have walked away! But then again, it is who you know or associate. Jack (a good veteran collector) was nice enough to be honest & let me have it for that great price!

I am enjoying the sign & one day I will REPLACE it with the REAL one. I believe Patience is KEY to collecting!

Enough said …

Henrik

I have a problem when a seller like this gentleman has an original can. Scans the graphics and places them on a fantasy item and then sells it as an original. That is criminal, unethical, selfish, serve serving behavior and conduct that has much more far fetching implications then this just one transaction.

The person that won that can believes it to be real and paid the amount that a real can sells for. In the future it will probably be sold as a real can and before you know it has has 20-30 years of history of it being in collections...by now even you must be seeing the false provenance.

To simply say that; power is knowledge and that buyer's do your homework is down playing the danger of these kind of sellers...not to mention; that it still does not excuse or make right what they are doing to others or the hobby in general. Everyone should have the right to be able to trade and collect safely.

That, is my beef with these sellers. Simply put I HATE liars, cheats and thieves. The world would be a better place without them. I will always vocally oppose them and their actions. Rather then except them as a normal by-product of human evolution.
