How about this one?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1920s-Ma...-/190771418891?

Even went to the length of taking out the grommets and drilling the holes bigger and putting larger grommets in. All in an attempt to trick an unsuspecting bidder.

You and me. What's just as disturbing is that the problem is growing exponentially everyday.

Brian--Stop and think! These people don't WANT to buy repop fakes, they are just uneducated and don't know where to go for the answers! If someone were to ask me if the ebay sign was original, I would honestly have to answer that I didn't have a clue, but thanks to Old Gas and the connections that I now have, I'm able to find out the answer.
The american public has been driven to want these artifacts because of the current poularity and often buy on impulse and without regard to originality because of their lack of knowledge about repops.
I only pray that repops don't destroy a wonderful hobby!

I agree with KW, I have been involved in the hobby about 4 years now and I have to say when I first started to collect I have no idea what would have been real or a repop, as long as it looked old I am sure I would have taken the seller word for it, I guess the only think that saved me from making mistakes like this pure sign was that when I first started collecting I had a lot smaller budget than I do now. so I couldnt make that expensive mistake.

The easy to spot repro PURE plates have the square corners....other repros have rounded ones and aren't as obvious! I agree the prices paid for some of these repro plates is surprising...bad for the hobby for sure but people need to research before jumping head on into the arena these days.
