When that globe broke the first thing that came to mind was me wasn't it. LOL You guys are killing me!

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

I don't know How bad it is Broken ,As you know sometimes they can be fixed, I've seen globes that Cheese and Dawn have fixed, they are very good to say the least, When there done you would never know it was broke to begin with ,and at much less than buying another Original , now if it's in a kazillion pieces thats a different story

Sorry to hear of your loss Steve, that Powerine was a nice one. Atleast it was you who did it and not someone else. I once put a broom handle thru one a couple years ago - to much in a hurry. I was upset, then felt even worse after telling the wife. LOL.

Steve what a feeling that must have been. Hope it was not broke in to many pieces so it can be put back together. I've talked to JJ on the phone so every morning and every night I offer a prayer to the globe gods and so far I have been safe. Hey Doc I remenber the first globe you got, you better ship it to me for safe keeping until the jinx ends. Richard

Well I will just say I had a set of new old stock Mobilgas special lenses that I got from Scott B. and my cat jump on top of my coke machine and knocked them off. That was one of my first globes. UPS and FEDEX took about 3 and it was mainly do to poor packaging. Packing these right will usually get them to you broke. I told 2 of the 3 how to package it... they didn't listen.
The last globe... the 13.5 lenses were siliconed to a gill body... I took a knife and cut almost all the silicone and tried to pull the rest. It was still attached and broke about a 3/4 in and 3 inch tall chip.

I will say I have had some bad luck but I won't stop collecting them. I made a sheet to put in the envelope on how to package the globe and e-mail them when I buy one. That's the best way.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Boy that story sure has changed! "The last globe... the 13.5 lenses were siliconed to a gill body... I took a knife and cut almost all the silicone and tried to pull the rest. It was still attached and broke about a 3/4 in and 3 inch tall chip."

I remember getting the call from JJ......It started off with "You'd think I would have learned my lesson after I broke the first lens".......
The story got worse from there!
Don't worry John. I won't tell them you said you tried to "pry" the lenses loose because you got tired of cutting the caulk.
OOPS.

Most damage does occur during shipping. Usually due to poor packaging, but the brown truck guys can break anything it seems.
Then there are guys that blame their cats!

At a show in Fort Worth years ago,my wife saw a Pure globe she just had to have. She haggled it down from 675 to 275(god bless her)and we went home with it.Years later I had just finished "her" Erie pump and she ran inside to clean up her globe for the pump.A few minutes later she came outside crying...she had broke one of the lenses. What could I do?....I said thats ok honey...we'll turn that side towards the wall.

Slick, I was thinking the same thing. She must really be a looker if she can talk someone down that much. What was a good buy... even for a single.
