John and AL thanks for showing us some "not so common" Veedol items...
AL, when do you "go on the road again"?... I think it is time, I ask my Drs... if it is okay to make a quick "night time rai"...
I mean "visit" to a "Good Friend"... LOL

Thought I'd throw my Tydol Ethly wide glass globe out there and ask a question of all you Tydol experts......What would have been the last years that this glass globe would have been seen on pumps? Were they out of use by the time the electrics like the Neptune L-1 and MS/Wayne 80's went in to service? I'd like to build a pump and use this globe, but I haven't got an older clockface pump in the shop yet. Great thread Bob, all you guys make me jealous with all the nice stuff!.....Gary

I'm kicking myself because I should know that cartoonist from the very first post. If my first dad (not stepdad) was still alive, he'd know for sure 'cause he read me all those comics including the Katzenheimer Kids--the comics he grew up with. Is it by the Brownies (my favorite) cartoonist Palmer Cox? Bob and Alan, what made you both focus on Veedol/Tydol, especially as you're nowhere near the midatlantic region? Is it like the Russians who have more cactus clubs than the U.S. because they are so different from what is local? LOL

Gary, if I am reading Jack's book correctly and looking at the correct photo on Scott's and Wayne's CD... The globe was used between 1935-1941... So well before the Neptune L-1 and the Wayne/MS 80 were introduced...

Nicole, for me... Because as a youngster I worked for Tidewater Oil at a Flying A Service gas Station in the early to mid 60s...
I really started Collecting Tide Water/Tide Water-Associated/Tidewater items a little over 2 years ago..
Before that it was anything from any Company... And I still "pick up" items from other Company's, if the item catches my fancy...

That's what I had gathered also, Bob. I have dug up a few pictures of newer pumps done in that theme, but they would not really be period correct. Oh well, I'll just have to start looking for a clockface to restore.....Gary

Okay, I think we need a bit of Canadian content here to balance things out. I know they were here from at least the 1930s but I never see any of the real early Canadian flat tins. Cheers, Don.

Not as nice as the rest but here are my items Cast Tydol lens. 6 foot Tydol. NOS Veedol banner I old last year. This was being used by some Amish as a kettle lid. I like the story behind it. 25 gallon can I picked up at a auction a few years back. Needs a bath LoL.
Wanted Owens Motor Oil & Mobiloil Gargoyle. Brad Ralston & my website is www.petrobarn.com
