If this is listed on EBay, with a reserve, why can't they just post an asking price? I hate all this "make an offer" stuff.....c'mon, throw me a bone already.....

Still have the esso!
Also a lot of people seemed to be upset about auction on pan am on ebay. This sign was passed on to me. I have no idea of value I have received offers from 600-1000. I was suggested to put on ebay with a reserve to get a better idea of what to ask. As you can see on ebay none of my other items are set that way. My apologies if I overstepped some unspoken rule, but I am learning.

The forum does have some guidelines to follow, but you are OK with them so far. I moved your topic to the "Online Auctions, eBay Petroliana" forum category when you put it on eBay, just to group similar things together. Not a big deal.

Sellers are allowed to offer their items the way they want as long as it is fair and within the Guidelines. Putting your item on eBay is probably the best choice in your situation. Some people will be disappointed that they couldn't have bought it for a set price. Follow through with the sale to the end of the auction and it will turn out OK for everyone.
