hi, does anyone have a close up of their Bowser 585 ad glass & window (front and back) I am having trouble installing mine. I never toke any before photos (besides the ad glass was missing). Bought a new ad glass kit , there is channels in it does the ad glass slip into it? or go on top? I have tried both and included photos. The new ad glass retainer kit is not polished so guessing it is hidden by the glass ? here is a close up of the kit

also do I have clips or something missing from the trim? I have looked in my Phillips 66 1945-1954 book and there is not a close up photo I can tell by. p.s. the old window glass is getting replaced with new ones. THANKS

Here's an original Shell Bowser 585 with factory installed generic ad glass. Doesn't use those retainers you have photographed. Maybe a USA and Canadian pump difference?

The ad glass will slide into the assembly but you will have to use a gasket to get a proper fit. The steps you will need is install window glass with proper rubber gasket, put on stainless window trim small screws go into the holes no clips are used. Then attach ad glass assembly on the back side of the door. There should be four threaded studs two on each side that will hold your assembly by being tightened with nuts. The way you have the ad glass assembled in the first picture is correct.I hope this helps. I will try to get to my shed to get you some pics by Sunday.

thanks Dave & bowserman. It is a Canadian pump, but it also has the 4 threaded studs that bowserman speaks of.(photo 8) So, I think the only real difference in the American or Canadian versions is that the Canadian one the wrap around door trim is at the top of the window glass vs. in the middle. So, the window glass sticks out futher than the ad glass ?(photo 3) So, the ad glass retainer set shows ? If so I will have to polish it. Oh, I have the correct rubber gaskets. also what does Figure Number mean ? is that the same as model number ? which this one is figure # 577

Dalin,
Yes the ad glass retainer will show. Just a suggestion that retainer you have should be raw metal not aluminum or stainless. I would suggest you prime it and paint it to color match your doors. Just my two cents

bowserman yes it's raw metal. Using it there is about a 1/4 inch gap between the trim and the ad glass ? photo 3

Yes there should be a gap. When you replace the window glass make it the full size of the window opening not the 3/4 sheet it gives it a more finished and correct look. It makes the ad glass look recessed. I'll pm you pictures tomorrow. Hopefully they will help and not confuse you.

Bowserman that is a great idea ! But, oppppps Friday I had the new window glass cut down to match the old 3/4 glass that I had. May have to make another trip to the glass shop.ha Looking forward to your pics.
I guess the Canadian version that I have used 3/4 glass and then the ad glass with a dividing metal spacer (which I only have one of) But I can go with the American or Canadian placement of the ad glass. Since, my door was made also with the American bolts(studs) for the ad glass retainer. To go with the Canadian version I would have to make or find another ad glass spacer.
p.s.
your Husky Oil signs and globe you posted in the BOTW post look great !

Dalin,
Here is what I have. I used some of yours and Dave's pictures as well hope you guys don't mind.

Like I said lay in a full sheet of glass and apply stainless trim first with the small screws as seen in Dave's picture.

Once done apply back ad glass retainer as your picture shows apply side brackets first, then install ad glass and slide down a bit and then install the lower bracket and finish sliding ad glass down to hold it all together.

Here is mine at a horrible angle and horrible picture.

The finished look..

I hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll try my best. By the way thanks for the compliment.
Thanks,
