I have just Purchased a G&B 176 Model 3O. I have attached some photos (I hope). Any help would be appreciated but I have sevral questions. 1. Should this be restored or just cleaned and let as is? 2. Do I repaint it and if so with what? 3. Any info on TRIGAS? I have never heard of them. 4. The pmup handle says BERKLEY on it. Is this correct or is it a replacement. 5. Is there any place that I can get plans or schematics for this pump? 6. Is it anything special? Thank for any help. David K.

NICE PUMP DAVID, IF MY 176 LOOKED THAT GOOD I WOULD CLEAN IT UP AND BUY A REPO GLOBE AND CALL IT GOOD. YOU CAN GET A RED HAT GLOBE AT GAS PUMP HEAVEN FOR $69. GREG

David, You have a very nice clean unrestored pump . It is a matter of personal choice whether you should leave it alone or restore it. I think it looks great just the way it is except the Fry decal or sign. That is for an entire diferent pump manufacturer. I have a T-176 in my backyard and it looks very similar, cond. wise, to yours, and I am leaving it as is. Some pumps just look right left alone. I always try to restore the beaters first. Can you post a picture of that handle? The pump is a very common visible pump, but a very nice one. Ron Scobie might have the original parts breakdown manual with photos . You can cotact him under "pump parts" at this website. Best of luck, and I hope you get lots of enjoyment out of that pump. GasPump Rob

Thanks for all the help. I am leaning towards just cleaning it up. In drawings have seen was there a wire cage or mesh around the glass jar? This one does not have it or is it just missing? Also here is a pic of the pump handle that was reqested. It looks too new to be original but any info on it will be helpful.

You are talking about the hail screens, expanded mesh that went around the cylinder for added protection. Most people leave them off so you can see the cylinder better. Your cylinder looks like a few bb holes and some cracks, maybe windshield repair stuff can fix that, someone will probably steer you in the right direction. The nozzle or handle looks like a later one , probably should be a bronze one on it , but that is not life or death. Leaving it with the paint you got sounds like the way to go, you can polish the paint up a bit, Flitz if you can find it does wonders on paint that is oxidized, areas that are a bit rusty or missing some paint will come up nicely sometimes if you use fine steel wool and sometinmes a bit of oil will help on those areas. You may not be 600 dollars happier if you go to all the trouble to strip it and paint it......................dodogas

Great score, David! I'd leave it the way it is, add a globe, replace the nozzle with a brass one and add a 1 inch hose instead of the 3/4 inch. I found an old hose and spray painted it white. Have fun and do what you think you'd like. You can always paint it later but I like things original if in reasonable shape and this one definitely is presentable this way. Rod in Nebraska

I'm going to look at a pump just like this next week except no crack in the glass. What price range should I be looking at?
