Wowsers....what a great sign! Not one you see everyday and the condition is super. Be fun to watch where it ends.

I saw it about a half hour after it first posted. I slammed down the first bid just to make sure it didn't get pulled. Been watching it, with tears in my eyes, as it skates right on through my price point! cry cry cry cry

My only hope to get one of these for my collection is that who ever is planning to pay the big bucks it trading up. And next week his hand me down version with a view war wounds will come up for bid.

The other crazy thing is, Capac Mi is only about a simple 25 minute ride up the road from me.

Isn't it crazy to think it's almost in your back yard Steve? Sometimes we never know what items are close by until you see them in an auction listing in the local paper or it shows up on Ebay.

Crazy and frustrating! It's as if I can taste it : )
The second I saw it I called the guy in hopes of convincing him to pull the listing and that I could bring cash the very next day. Mine was the only bid at the time and I was assuming I could retract it so he could pull the listing. I figured it was worth a shot. But he didn't answer and surprisingly never called me back. He would have lost his butt though cuz I cudn't go anywhere near that price it's pulling now!
Hmmm... I wonder what other pieces might be right under my nose?

SC62, I am also a SUNOCO freak. Just bought five NOS blue sunoco pump plates,Kick myself in the A#$, But guess what, they are in my hands, And they did not get away. I paid too much, But I also have got a lot of high dollar stuff for free. So I feel it Will all equal out! Besides when you are dead and gone nobody is going to care that you paid too much! So stop crying,And go get a personal loan, And show Mr Private bidder who you are!

Wow!!
$2550 with 1 day yet to go!

I have to think though, that in the world of Sunoco collectibles, this could be the holy grail of Sunoco. If not, what then?

FWIW, the seller called me back this morning. He moves and sells machinery for a living and about 12 years ago he bought a small building in Capac Mi. to store machines in. He did believe that the building was once a gas station. He found this sign in the attic. He thought it was kind of cool so he just set it in the corner of his office where it's been sitting for the last 12 years. He never even dusted it off he said. He finally decided it might be worth selling as it's just sitting in his office anyway. He knew from seeing American Pickers that it must have some value, but he had no idea it would bring this kind of money.
