These are my 3 best items from Peotone. The Excelsior sign is a small foreign piece from the auction. I couldn't resist the graphics. The Burnishine is my NFS (new favorite sign) rough, but again, the graphics won me over. The Mobil lube piece I got in a trade. Small porcelain signs on the outside and a cool lube tool? inside. Check the for sale column for that one.

Had a good time at the Peotone show as always. My brother had strong sales, my buying was pretty slim but still had a good trip;

Got the Sinclair can off Old Gas and the sign at the show. A quick google search showed the company in buisness in 1905. Very heavy shelving, SSP;

Yes, it is either from England or Australia, but I'm pretty certain it is from England.

Nice buys, everyone!
I found some stuff this weekend at a swap meet for car parts and such, also the TUDOR station was a delivery. Still works says the man who has used it since it was new in the early 60s...
Also got a bunch of miniature pumps, scale 1:87 (H0). Showing the Ljungmans Star45 and -710. They are one inch and 1 1/8 inch respectively. Also got other pumps in the same scale that needs to be built (this is typically a "I want" but when will I have the time, situation?)

The good, the bad, and the ugly. For this new year it has been a good busy couple of months collecting besides all the other stuff that is going on. I am getting ready for an antique auction this weekend, then two antique show and sales later in March, plus trying to piece together the Eco Islander that I just got back from the painter. So far everything is fitting into place, no train wrecks yet. The finds on the table are mainly from an eastern auction and from a long trip to southern Alberta for an auto swap meet. The Tokheim and the Imperial signs just jumped into the back of the truck on the way home. If this keeps up I may have to trade in the Chevy S10 for something bigger. Cheers, Don.

Heres my Peotone buys! The Cities Service sign is something that I saw at Iowa Gas and couldn't get bought, and I was kicking myself for not trying harder, and then it showed up in the Matthews auction! I probably paid too much, but I was determined to own it this time! Louisana Oil Refining Corp (LORECO) was an early subsidiary of Cities Service and that would make this a very early sign!
The Red Indian was on my wish list and was also a Matthews auction item.This one was in pretty nice condition and just the right size!
The Indian pump plate was at the swap meet and is something I've wanted for a long time. This one was in such nice shape, and was priced reasonably, so I just had to have it.
I ran across the nice Cities Service antifreeze can, just before I left and grabbed it up before I headed out the door!

After a long dry spell, I finally have something to share! LOL

The Velvagas Ethyl lenses came out of Texas - and the 'drop-center' miklglass body came via the Matthews Auction at Peatone last Friday.

The Ashland Ethyl lenses came courtesy of Scott/Lonnie. I picked them up at Peatone last weekend - along with the auction-win milkglass 'drop-center' body they are mounted on.

Finally - this BRYCO Ethyl single lens on 'drop-center' milkglass body was another auction win last Friday.

Later . . .

I have been trying to buy this off of a local collector for the past 3 years. He sold it to me once and backed out. I paid more then what it's worth...but now, it's mine. It's the colors that I like. 70x58" porcelain.
