Does anyone have a reproduction Gulf pricing sign for sale or know who does? The originals were cast iron. I'll take fiberglass, iron, aluminum, resin, etc. Going outside on this building. Thanks, Dave

Hello John, Your pricing sign is a little newer than what I am looking for, but I appreciate your offer. I am trying to stay period(1920-1930s). I have been told that the sign below is is what I need : Good talking to you today and I will get up to your place this summer. Dave

My dad used to have one. If I got the story right, the originals were cast iron. There was an Amish guy that had a foundry across the valley from mom and dads place. Somebody got the Amish guy to make a mold and cast some reproductions out of aluminum. I was in the military at the time and happened to see one that dad somehow ended up with. Dad did not have anything to do with getting them made, he just lived close to the guy that made them and ended up with one. I will try to see if he still has it. Maybe the Amish guy still has the mold? This was probably 20 years ago that they were made. Would there be any demand for them? And no, as far as I know they were not dated...

Hello Wes, You might sell a couple, but your cost would be very close to what you might sell them for and it probably would not be worth the effort. I want a couple(NO NOX and GOOD GULF) to put outside so I will not cry when they walk. I would appreciate you checking on it for me. Sounds like a pretty good story. LOL Dave

Hello Jim, They would be cool for people to display. If I made them, what would be the material of choice: aluminum, resin, or cast iron like the original. I would date them on the back in recessed letters. NOT TRYING TO PUT ANOTHER FAKE OUT THERE AND "PULL THE WOOL" over someone's eyes. I have not seen one on here or Ebay in a while. You could just use an original to make a pattern and go from there. I worked in a foundry for 14 years and know the process...You need both pricing plates and a set of the numbers. Dave

I dont know... Mine would just be for outside too. I know there is quite a difference in price between aluminum and iron, but I'm wondering about how much aluminum ones would run? Cast iron -like original would be good too. like I said, I dont know. LOL

You are a "Veteran" member...did us up a couple and I'll check with my old foundry and see about what it will cost. They only do cast and ductile iron. Aluminum may be cheaper. There are probably some guys on here that pour aluminum and brass.I'll check on what a pattern out of resin will cost. Dave

Would you put it outside ? Things disappear around here...porcelain signs, old houses, gas pumps, anything old and neat within sight. Dave
