I have located a fortune gasoline sign possibly in great condition with its origional hanger. with the book research I have done I was only able to find pump plates. I was told the company existed as an independant in California. There are a few larger signs here and there on ebay that state they are reproductions. I even found a company selling heavy gauge steel versions for about a hundred bucks. Did Fortune gaoline really exist?, and how could one tell if the sign is correct or not. any help is greatly appreciated. unfortunately I have no pictures at this time as my finding is through word of mouth. I will be inspecting the sign tomorrow with hopes of purchasing. Thanks.

Mr T
I think you find that sign will have a number in lower Right hand corner and will say like 2 of 48, the last number is the total number of those reproduced, that is not a date, not real

Fortune sign was 2 painted tin signs back to back then riveted at the corners...hanger was brand new and specially made for the sign...The sign was sold at auction as NEW repo or fantasy sign.
Nice to meet ya Mr T...
Wendell, the sign had NO Markings whatsoever as to maker or date or numbers of any kind....
