What do you guys make of this?

Aside from the date being off by 25+ years, I don't recall ever seeing a pump plate like this or size....thinking it's a guillotine sign from a rack???

WELL first thing it would not be 1920-1930's like the seller states. It would be sixties. But i thought all ppp's were the rectangle ones then...?
Its not in the Mobil collector and price guide either as a ppp.
I have never seen that sign in that size, most that look like that are larger....
Richard hopefully will add to this topic or may be Darin..
I am stumped.

This sign belongs to a good friend of mine. The sign was found on farm gas pump and pulled off last week. We couldn't find this sign in any Mobil book or anywhere else for that matter.

In the description 1920's-30's he is referring to when the Pegasus replaced the gargoyle. Not the age of the sign.

I'm not really sure either guys....When I first saw the listing I thought it could be one of the scarce truck signs, but when I read the size I thought it would be too large for that. Like Dan posted, maybe Richard will see the thread and shed some light on the sign. I've never seen one like it either. Darin

I had one just like it before, but it was painted metal. Are you sure this one is porcelain? It kind of looks like a painted sign? I am pretty sure they are the real deal anyway.

Not one I've seen either.......seems pretty big for a pump plate. A picture of the pump it came from would seal the deal. Most signs I've seem with this logo are painted not porcelain.

In the description 1920's-30's he is referring to when the Pegasus replaced the gargoyle. Not the age of the sign. That's true, but it's also in the Title first thing which is misleading as well as it not being porcelain(???).

I bought the sign. 2nd one I've had in 20+ years. It's porcelain. Has everything you want to see in a 60's sign. Prefect original split back grommets. The guy took it off a old School districts gas pump.
