I have a early cast McDonald Hand Pump with wood handles that I think used to be from a bulk plant or possibly off of a bulk delivery truck. I am giving the picture download process another try. If the picture did not download I would gladly e-mail a pic to anyone that can help me with finding more out on this old pump. Thank you,Marc (Sorry ,pics did not download) Will e-mail I will be restoring this pump for my dad for Father's Day. Looking for an original picture or someone who knows the original color, Once again,Sorry for the inconvenience. I also have a pic of the Standard Oil Windsock I have from the 30s if anyone wants to see it,Sock is not for sale. Have a Great Day

Can someone with any knowledge of the A.Y. McDonald pumps please pm me your e-mail so I may send pics to you to help me identify this pump I have. You may then post on Oldgas with my permission if you would like as I am unable to re-format pictures at this time. This is the only item I have that is in question. Thanks,Marc

It's a water pump for filling steam tractors out of the wagon mounted water tanks. Probably used for other water pumping needs of the time. Not a rare item. The ones made by tractor companies are the most valuable. Mcdonald was a big manufacturer of the classic yard type hand water pumps of the good old days.

Originally made for water transfer, but as most farmers will use anything that works whether it was made for that purpose or not.
If it works, why buy the correct item.

Ever notice that farmers usually have Newer Tractors than Pickups,
Newer Barns than House, Wife has New dress & he has old Bibs?

Thanks Dick! Info appreciated, still looking for original color when manufactured so I will continue the search. In South Dakota our local farmers are often referenced as Striped Whistlers because of their reaction to gas prices around here. They pull up to the pump wearing the striped overalls and see the gas prices then roll their heads back and whistle..Hence the Striped Whistler!!! My uncles are proud Striped Whistlers:).

Paint it to a color that you will be Pleased With [Black, Green, Yellow, Pink! etc.], there are getting to be Fewer Old Tymers around when this item was new.
