Does anyone have a pic or some tips on the door latch setup for this pump? I am almost all done but I want to see how is supposed to go together with the lock and such. Kind of a rare pump but i figured inwould take a shot, thanks!

Simple lock mech. Screws in from the rear and catches to a bolt located below the computer shelf. No pictures available but we've done a few of these and they are not that rare. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Hmmm....i see the bolt. Problem is the lock is on the same side of the door as the hinge and the bolt is on the opposite side. So, facing the pump, the door hinge is on the right and the lock is on the right. The bolt is on the left. To get the lock on the left where the bolt is i would have to flip the belt trim upside down. Also, there arent any screw holes on the trim piece. There is one hole that goes through on the left but no threaded holes on the back at all. How does it stay on the door?

Those pics would be gold for me! My pump came in a box of pieces and despite the other reply saying these arent "rare", there sure isnt a lot of into or pics on the net about them.

Pics of the insides of the doors, the sign brackets on the glass(above and below the pump face) and any other you feel like taking would be great. Can you send them right to my email?

Thanks!!

No problem. Not sure if mine have all of the faceplate parts intact, but I'll get you some shots of what is there. I have three of them but none of them are 100% complete. They may not be as rare as some pumps, but when you try to find parts or info on them they are about as rare as they come. I have been looking for a pair of the buckle door latches and a few other parts to complete these I have for two years now and still haven't got everything I need. If you need new faceplates, Paul at severngaspumps.com has repos for them.......

I have one of these pumps as well. They may not be "rare" but parts for them sure are. I purchased mine already disassembled in boxes at an auction. Luckily mine was very complete. even had a new top with it as the old one had reusted out at the globe mount. I can not get pictures for you mine is about ready for paint at this time(waiting for warm weather to paint).

DB helped me out with some of the window trim pieces and I passed on some other window pieces I had to lordparafin so he can continue repairing the one he found buried in the woods.

Pics sent to your email. There are quite a few of them so it may take a bit to download them.....

These pics are perfect! Mystery solved. I am missing the latch mechanism that bolts to the door on the left side. Makes sense now as to why the lock cylinder is on the right, but it latches on the left. You helped me out a lot, thanks smile. Problem now is getting the door to stay closed without those latches!! Again, with the lack of parts available, these sure act like rare pumps smile

Glad they helped you out. Maybe you can just mount the latch (cast buckle) to the door with screws from the back side (solid) and then just use some kitchen cabinet friction locks on the doors so they will just push shut. It doesn't take much to hold the door closed.....

Vendors haven't had enough request for parts for these pumps is why there are very few parts available. As the demand for parts goes up so will the repop parts.

Place a WANT TO BUY in the Want Forum & Wait, someone has what you need.

The L-1 was first introduced by the Erie Pump Company. After they were acquired by the Neptune Meter Company, Neptune continued procuction of the L-1. Then, after A.O. Smith acquired both Erie and Neptune, they continued production of the L-1. IMO, all the L-1s were made in the Erie factory in Erie, PA.

I just revised the L-1 section of my website with all the literature I have available: http://petrolianacollectibles.com/erie%20l-1.htm

Two of my L1's are Neptunes and one is a Smithway. The only differences I can seen in the two brands are the tags and faceplate lettering. One other difference is the hose guard trim. The Neptunes have the tubing type externally mounted guard and the Smith has just a stainless strip.....
