The other day I posted that there was a guy on Craigslist selling a Polly can for $300. Apparantly, it had sold but is still on CL for $400. He also posted a Tiger oil can for $300, different listing city but same contact number. This time I contacted him through e-mail. His story was the same as the Polly can - "I don't have the can with me but I'm selling it for a friend in St Louis. Pay me up front and I'll have him send you the can directly. If you don't want to give me the money now, I have plenty of other people in line who will."

I looked around a little deeper and see that his pictures on the CL ad are the same pictures used for a legitimate sale on ebay. I challenged him on the Tiger can to get the can in hand and we'll do business. He did not reply and the Tiger can has been removed.

I'm not going so far as to say that this guy is a crook, but his conduct is sketchy and doesn't appear on the level.

A warning to everyone - if you can't see the item in person, then run away. Do not wire the money. Only deal with people locally. It says this on Craigslist. If you want to verify something in my neck of the woods, let me know and I'll go and take a look at it on your behalf to verify it's legitimacy. I won't snipe it from under you.

Just be very careful and watch out for this guy (or anyone like him).

Another thing to worry about is him selling your email or phone number to other scammers. Ask me how I know, LOL.

On craigslist, if a deal seems too good to be true...then it probably is a scam.
