I put this in the same category as those early handpainted wood signs. I want to see a picture of it on the building.....otherwise anyone could paint a piece of wood, cupola, door, window, mailbox, piece of a wall, bench, chair, ect. Show me proof or its just a decorator item/scrap metal.

Why would someone pay a sign painter to go up on a roof and paint that? Due to the size of the lettering and it's placement on top of a roof...it would be hardly visible. Waste of paint, labor and advertising money.

Who is to say someone did not just paint that on there and age it a bit, I noticed there are no pics of it on the roof.

I am always looking for anything Texaco or Oklahoma oil and gas company's, also I am a newbie at seeking globes.

If you go by his story, it would have been up on the roof since before the early 1940's and would have been out in the weather until several years ago, so with "Fuzzy numbers math", one would say the paint held up very well for being outside exposed to the elements for about 60 years...
