looking to get some in put on this pump plate. 271172088697 looks fishy to me,did they ever make one like this? thanks!

No, Socony-Vacuum didn't ever make a round porcelain pump plate. That is a $20 sign you can buy from any fantasy sign dealer. There is also a similar fantasy round Mobiloil sign, "dated" 1941. Ebay item 140920416298 , same deal, $20 sign. Darin

Never seen that design on a old pump, even a decal. Only seen that PPP on the fake fantasy pumps. Most the older decals were shields. There was one other pump plate and the first metal pump plate Mobil used. Here is a picture. but it is tin litho and not porcelain.

that was what i was thinking,it is a fake. the back and front look to have been purposely aged with a hammer. thanks guys!

Tim -You really should buy PCM's Guide to Gas Pump Restoration". I have Vol2. There is a section where hundreds if not thousands of plates are listed and identified. And which years they were used (and where) on the pumps. It clears up lots of questions. Its really a good book. It was written by Wayne Henderson and Scott Benjamin-who do so much for our hobby.
