Goodness. Was it a buy it now for $1500? I would have went and picked it up today for that price. I think the seller ended the auction early.

It was a buy it now. No doubt he is being flooded with emails telling him they will pay more

I think that something is off here - they knew the value of the Phillips 66 sign they listed as well. I also think it is only one sided and the pictures were not that great --- It looked like the sign had been split -- If it is too good to be true it generally is ---

10 minutes from my house, I know the seller, I made a trip over to his place to only find out it was in another building 30 miles up the road. Its a legit sign and I missed it by minutes!!!!!

Joey,
You have to be more disapointed than the rest of us. So how long was the auction up?

Part of being in any hobby! Get up dust the dirt off your shoulder and keep rolling! Cant be everywhere at once, and you cant get every deal even when they are that close.

Jim, I dont think this had the bullnose cause its the smaller version! Also, How are you so sure its definately a split sign and new can? Single sided signs were made...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
And as for rushing right over there Joey? What did you expect to accomplish? Beat the buyer to other items, notify seller it sold cheap, or disrupt the sale....I dont understand your need to rush right over there...
-----------------------------------------------------------------

ANYONE that contacted the seller to disprupt the sale is WRONG!
The buyer is picking it up as I type! lol I told him to find out if anyone offered more $$ for it and their names!!!

How can I disrupt a Buy it now auction? The auction was live when I went over to his place. I was already on the move running errands, lunch etc when I received a call from a friend about the auction. I asked what the sellers user name was he Said Jerry Hopper I said Cool I know him I will go check it out. I talked with Jerry at his house and it was to late someone had already committed to the auction. I did not offer more to try and weasel my way into the sign what is done is done. I did state that if the buyer at $1500 does back out please call me. I don't know what your trying to imply about me but I don't appreciate it. I live in a fairly small town my family has known the Hopper's for decades great people and a lot of my local friends have done business with them over the years as well.

Easily! By offering more money! It happens all the time on ebay!Ive lost a couple great signs from ebay because someone close offered more money and just picked it up.
1 was even an oldgas member that posted my sign in buys of the week the following week!
Thanks for clarifying Joey. I wasnt trying to imply anything, only asking a question...
Thanks again...

Ive lost countless as well, including a few key pieces that would have looked great in my personal collection.

My intentions were to look it over for my friend to buy as the pics and description of the sign were very limited.

I have collected signs like this for over 20 years and never seen an original single sided OK sign of this style? If you have, please post details/pictures. All that I have seen were originally 2 sided and were offered in various sizes (roughly 4', 6', 8' 10' across). This one looks like the smallest (just over 4' in length). It also appears to me that it's possible that this was the non neon version with neon added? I believe the non neon version was made in 4' only to best of my knowledge? I say this as there are only 2 holes for neon in this sign - no holes for the upper or lower horizontal neon border or for the OK and rings on top? These signs were made by Texlite, Federal, and I'm sure others so anything is possible. I would say Jim is right that this is 1/2 of a double sided sign and the bullnose are missing. I won't state for sure that it was non-neon without seeing it in person or better pics and dimensions (the non neon signs were slightly smaller than the neon version).
