I was curious if anyone out there might have an idea or any reasons why this globe body has been cut on the one side? Looks like the whole ridge where the lens would have set and the snap ring goes in is missing. It looks like a super clean cut job though! Almost looks like it was a one sided unit, lol.

I saw that too and was trying to figure it out as well. I just figured it was repurposed for somthing other than a globe holder.

I too was surprised it sold for the amount it did, but I'm thinking along the same line as the others that the buyer may not have realized that it's not a completely usable globe body as it sold for as much as a good one might.

Judging from the more detailed photographs and revised description...I would imagine buyer discovered the trimmed body.
