So i bought this sign yesterday off an oldgaser and was wondering what it was used for... Havent seen another one like it before.

The sign is 3 foot by 18 inches and is painted metal...

Cool sign but just curious what it was used for or where and a year possibly. I think it is from the 30's but i could be wrong.

I'd bet the top of a can rack or hanging below the tire shelf in lube bay.

As usual, I think Dick is correct. Dang, I wish he would bottle up some of his knowledge and send me a pint.

That would seem right given the mounting holes...nice sign!

Being single sided I don't think it would have been for an oil rack. At 36" wide that would be a huge oil can rack.

Judging from the size of the holes and their spacing; I'm guessing that it is a tin tacker sign. A sign that got tacked/nailed onto a building.

I have some early oil can racks and they have smaller double sided, heavier gauge signs.
