I am wondering if there is anyone out there that rebuilds the globe rotators used by Standard Oil for their crown globes. I have one and it does function but not very well. I doubt it could turn a globe if I put one on it. I already know that these had a history of not working very well even when they where new because of heat issues. I'm not looking to run it 24/7. Just on special occasions. Thanks!

On mine the rubber drive wheel got hard & wouldn't grip. I glued a thin strip of emery cloth to the metal ring for drive wheel & now it works great. Also helped to clean & add new grease to ball bearings.

Do what Dick said, but you also should pull the aluminum cover off and spray some WD-40 on the shaft and bushings and try to get some down into the gearbox. That will usually work...the grease in these turns hard and needs to be softened up. If that doesn't work let me know as I have some parts for these.

Does anybody have pics of the ones at Chicago coin op?

Thanks Dick and everyone. I will give your suggestions a try. I live about 35 west of where the Chicago coin op show is so last ditch effort I will go there. but think these suggestions will help as it does run so will give it my best. Thanks again. Rob
