A friend asked me if I wanted to help him at a local antique show last weekend. I thought it would be fun. While we were setting up, we started to unpack a box of tins. One was this un-open Quaker Maid oil tin from St. Louis. I thought it was neat so I bought it from him before it went on the table. Some tin guys came along and spotted it. However, I decided to take it home. Any idea how old it is and should I remove the oil??.

In the 60s & 70s here in St. Louis, this is the oil we used in our oil burners. It was re-refined and was cheap, don't know what happened to the company.

Thanks Jack. At first I wasn't sure what you meant by "oil burner". I think you mean a car engine that is burning oil??. The tin seems to be older than the 60's - 70's. However, I have no idea. Just thought it was interesting.

Thanks again Jack. It is our one and only oil tin. If my truck starts to blow blue smoke.......I will be sure to try this oil....LOL!!!. Didn't think it was that old. I was thinking 50's.
