Not the cleanest sign I ever found but it's better than random rust, broken bottles or nothing at all. I've been chasing a layer full of metal, glass, burnt wood, ash, bones, concrete chunks & porcelain signs. I follow this layer until there's nothing left other than earth. Lord only knows what else is in the mix...I'm thinking asbestos. Any ideas what the turquoise stuff under the sign might be?

Thanks Robert! The mound I'm in is about 15ft wide,25+ long & its a good 6ft deep where my shovel is in the photo. I've cleaned one area up since I started...only just now getting into this one. The oil bottles are a heart breaker. All the good bottles & not a single oil bottle that's together. Then there's the globes. The third photo...whats there...buried. That thought drives me nuts(can't ya tell)
