4 different Auntomtive Lubricant cans.
Notice how the can on the far right has a different lid. All cans dated with a copyright date of 1937.
Does anyone else have this can and does it have this same 'paint can' type lid?
Just seems odd to me.

Yeah that's true.
So then I wonder if they eventually all go to the 'paint can' type lid?
Anyone got any of these others with the 'paint can' type lid?

Is that guy ever going to finish cleaning that pump grin

The first three cans are early ones and last one is a later can. Maybe different can manufacturer also. Sometimes, the copyright date does not mean much on some items.

Is that then to say that earlier versions of the "water pump grease" had the yellow top?

Was there even an earlier version of the "water pump grease"?

Anyone have one in order to prove this?

The other day I took a photo of a few of my Sunoco cans to add to this thread. Now I realize I should of read the thread closer about the copyright date. Well, maybe I can do that this weekend if I don't get side tracked. In the meantime here's the photo.
