will do Tim, now that I can post pics the fun is on! Plan on touring the countryside to educate the kid on gas and oil history so I will post all the old stations I come across this weekend. She asked what I wanted for Father's Day and that is what I chose smile.

There were 6 total in this section of the building, 2 were like the one pictured, 2 were Standard Service (6x4) I think, and 2 were Standard Oil Company, all about the same size and condition besides the nice one I found yesterday. ALL have 9 holes where the 2x4 studs were attached. I will use my majic tomorrow to see how they are when cleaned up, also found a 30" iso-vis round dsp that is pretty rough along with a Atlas 5' vertical that looks like it was used as skateboard ramp, ugh!!! Oh well,I was still like a kid in a candy shop smile. Don't give up on those old bulk plants guys!!! They haven't all been gone through.....yet, and if someone doesnt at least try to look around these old places chances are it will get scrapped. This experience was emotional to me because it was like gramps was right along there with me as he was the maintenance super in that building for Standard Oil for 30 years. Heck...far as I know he did this to these signs lol. I have 2 other brothers and plan on giving them each 2,which 2 would you guys keep, the Standard Service,The Standard Oil Company, or the Standard Oil ones like the one pictured? I am leaning personally to 1 Standard Service and 1 Standard Oil like the one pictured but I am still on the fence. I am not totally fluent on the exact value on these and don't care as they will remain with this family until I am long gone but I have a feeling the Standard Oil ones with the red line on each side are the rarest ones?

Marc: I remember a couple of years back of an auction in Huron that had a fence made of the slender Standard Oil signs and has Iso-Vis too. Must have been 50 or so. Standard Oil must have been the large dealer in the area.

I almost got one of those Iso-vis 30" DSP signs today. Could you tell me if yours says A.D. 1992 on it on the very bottom or is that a sign of a repop?

Mine says ADV, 547 (55/41), I am the furthest thing from a sign expert but I am improving, just haven't improved enough to help you on this question, sorry. Someone on here will be able to answer that i'm sure. I would post pic and ask, that would be more accurate.

Thanx for that info. It's now filled away in my head for the next one I come across. I also saw a ebay auction that has a 1929 ad with that graphic so it's one that dates from the late 20s to sometime in the 30s.
Great finds your getting to! Congrats!!!!!

Finally getting to the other Standard signs that I rescued from the local bulk plant grandpa worked at. Each one is notched in one corner but the gloss is very nice on each one. I'm happy with what I have netted from the place. Spring is coming so time to get out there and find some more!......and Yes!, the place was full of pigeons!

Well it warmed up enough to get these cleaned up. Problem is I am only planning on keeping one and letting someone else enjoy the other one. Now to figure out which one to keep? The Standard Oil Company sign has a few more extra holes than the Standard Oil one but the white border on the Standard Oil one grabs my eye a little more. Any input and opinions on which one looks better to ya'll please share. Each one also has a notch in different locations.

I have seen more of the standard oil signs than the standard oil company signs, if I had to choose I would pick the standard oil company sign if I were only keeping one. but hey they are both nice! let me know which one comes up for sale.

Keep the Standard Oil. The white border makes it more eye appealing in MHO.

I have decided to do some re-arranging and keep both signs as I can't seem to bring myself to let go of one. Glad I slept on the decision and thanks for all the comments and photoshop expertise! Have a great day everyone, off to set up for my daughters get together for her 18th birthday, man I'm feeling old smile.
