some before, in progress, and completed shots of the autolite cabinet I just finished restoring. I apologize for the less than stellar cellphone pictures. I had a vinyl shop cut stencils to allow me to paint on the letters. I finished it last night and had take some shots of it right away! I'll break out the actual camera this afternoon to take some photos.

Wow! Great job. Is the back piece inside that the plugs hang from polished aluminum or what? Looks like a mirror, really a beautiful piece.....GB.

rabbitman, it is metal that has had some sort of mirrored finish applied to it. It and the autolite boxes that adorn each side are original and untouched from the resto that I did. The mirrored finish does have some small flaws where it has lifted on a bit of the edges. I just polished it with some metal polish and it cleaned up amazing.

thanks guys.

Awesome!

How do you get the letters painted like that?

Strng- a local Vinyl shop cut a stencil, I brought them the cabinet before blasting it so they could take dimensions for letters. I also brought a picture I found on google images of the cabinet so they could match up the font. So, once it was painted red and wet sanded, I then applied the vinyl stencils (one is pictured above) and taped off the rest of the cabinet to prevent any overspray. Painted over the stencils, let it dry for about an hour and removed the stencils to reveal the painted on lettering. Wet sanded everything with 1500 grit and then buffed to a shine.
Thanks for all the compliments guys- really appreciate it.
