A lady here showed me a photo (1950's I think) of her Grandfather's service station here in Western Canada. The brand "Home" well known in these parts. I can tell the electric pump is a Gilbarco. Not sure what model. Wht has me stumped is the visible pump. It seems like a 10 gal. but very short. Can a member please tell me what the two pumps are??.

The photo is only 3 by 4 inches. A very small one. Not sure how I can get it any clearer.

your 1st pic has a 120 resolution & 78K file size. Try cropping out excess & enlarge pump area w/ 300 resolution for a file size closer to 150K or slightly less for direct download.

OK, I hope this is better....Also, thanks to a member....here is what the globe looks like on the electric pump. The globe on the visible just has "HOME" on the globe.

I have an original Home globe with the earlier flag logo. The globe photograph that you have attached is a fantasy image created by Pogo Gas.

As far as the visible it has been cut down to fit under the canopy of the gas station. Can't see enough detail to identify it.

Thanks Dave. The lady was thrilled to see the photo enlarged. She told me her parents ran the station later (1950's) until the late 50's. The Grandfather ran the station from the 30's until the early 50's. They had the visible there to use if there was a power outage. I thought the pump was cut down but, would it work right like that??. Was this a common thing done back then?.

It was either cut it down or install out from under canopy.
Cylinder is filled w/ pump in bottom and gravity flowed into tank of vehicles.

Well, what a treat!!. The lady asked her Mother if she had any other photo's of the Station. To my surprise.....she did!!. Here are three pics "Summer 1950" on the back and you can see an earlier "Home" sign as well as two visible pumps. The Gilbarco electric came a year or so later and is in the first photo I posted. We can now see the mystery pump AND why it looks short. It was not cut down. In fact they built a wood platform over and around the pumps..???. Can anyone tell what the pump is now???. The other looks like a Wayne 615??. It also seems it might be an electric Wayne??.

Both the top and body of the "Wesco??" are six sided. If you look at the photo showing the car at the pumps. At least when I enlarge....you can see it.

I think you are correct. Looks to me like the pump is not cut down but that the steps are built up around it making it appear short.

Very cool sets of photos. Priceless for those who are related.

I only have a couple of my father's station. Working the summer trying to locate some more when it was a porcelain building.

Now I was just given a photo of the same station (circa 1973) when other owners just took it over. What a difference.

On Vancouver Island. Since all of the member's on here are avid collectors.....I need to add a piece of unfortunate news. Back in the 1980's (when I had a serious interest in these things) I had bought up here a Gilbarco 96 with all it's 50's "Home" glass & decals (no globe) white with red base. The pump was just down on the water from where this station was. It was used to fill fishing boats and was in great shape.
However in 1994 we moved and I sold all my pumps except our two 996's. It turns out that the pump "is" the same Gilbarco you see next to the mystery "Wesco" pump. I feel bad now that I sold it....... It went to a friend here who is now in a care home and has since sold all his pumps.....what a shame.

The pump is a Wayne 777, pretty cool Canadian Pump, also came in a twin. If you look through my old posts, I've posted pics of both.

I was asked (when home) to post any photo's I still had of the Home Gilbarco that you see in the early photo's. Well, I was able to locate three. I had place a Weber's repro globe on it. You can note that pump faces are not porcelain but, aluminium in color.

Sorry, no. In fact, I did not know that "survivor" was a term for pumps found in original form....a little embarrassing...The only thing I did when I first bought the pump ($100) was remove the globe mount and add a Weber's mount and globe. Since there were no repro "Home" globes at that time....I went generic with "Gasoline".
If I remember correctly....the man that bought this pump from me, had plans to turn the pump into B/A. He had a NOS B/A globe in box and wanted to display it on this pump. I'm not sure if he ever did this. He sold all his pumps years ago and is now in a care home. A very nice man and good friend. Back then (early 90's) he pay me $800 for the pump.

Lance, thank you so much. You are right, the other pump is a Wayne 777. I will let the lady know.
