I really need help. I have a Clear Vision with an 10 gallon etched glass that is like brand new. I want remove it but the inner part of the casting is right up against the glass itself, i have soaked the glass in various release agents for over two weeks. I do not want to lose the cylinder. I have a rare Royer visible pump that i want to it into. NO muriatic acid please!!! I have removed all the caulk type material around the glass outside and inside of the cylinder.

Ken...I had this problem with a 10 x 20 cylinder one time...I picked all the litharge out of the channel at the bottom and sprayed about 3 cans of wd40 on the bottom of the glass. As bad as this sounds AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DO THIS, I tapped ever so slightly around the bottom of the cylinder with a RUBBER mallet and it popped right out. I've also had good luck grabbing the top edge of the cylinder and gently putting pressure in a twisting motion (like a steering wheel)....all this is dangerous, but if you can't budge it, what else can you do??

DON'T GET IN A HURRY ! The seal between the bottom of cylinder & casting needs to be broken. Try citric acid [I use Muriatic acid & bakingsoda in water to neturize acid ] WILL NOT hurt the glass, it will dissolve the rust. DON'T BE IN A HURRY. db

Dick's advise sounds the best for now but I did the same thing Seth did on my Correct Measure and after 3 taps with the mallet it popped right loose.

just want to add... Gary Drye had a pump with a broken Cyl. with just a couple of inches left and he thought he would take the rest out and touched it with a hammer and it exploded like a shot gun and glass went everywhere. Always becareful when working with cyl. from gas pumps!
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

LISTEN TO JARVIS!!!! I had this happen to me not long ago...luckily I was wearing safety glasses and had work gloves on-----I was peppered with bits of glass when mine exploded. All I got was some small cuts in my arms and face. Maybe a guy should wear long sleeves plus a full face shield too.....Be careful.

Marvel Mystery Oil and WD-40 - equal parts. Let it soak for three weeks or better.
