Recently pulled an old Wayne 615 from a barn that belonged to two brothers - both in their 80's. Pump had the original glass cylinder on it in prefect shape but no globe. When I referred to the pump as a Wayne 615 one of the ol' boys stated " no, it is an Illinois oil pump". And I politely responded that the manufacture was Wayne. He said " no, I don't think that is right". He promptly went over to a corner of the barn and came back with this globe. "See, this globe was on top of the pump, take it with you". Only one lens survived but it appears to be in excellent shape. Both guys remember that the pump was installed on the farm back in late 30's - they showed us where the original spot was - still had the feed pipe coming out of the underground storage tank. They used the pump until the mid 50's when it was replaced by an electric pump. Going to keep this just like it is.

That's the way I like them. NOS is pretty to look at, but this shows that it has had a life and served a purpose. Great find and greater story. This kind of post is what makes OG. Thanks for sharing.

Right with you Gene, I have picked several of these things over the past year or so and never had one with an original globe. Talk about getting giddy, about wet down my leg.
