I am 1800 miles away and have some pumps to sell, but not the home run type. Visibles that have been primed, plated, and parts together type. Some others also but $1800 of gas both ways and no booth or lodging. Every time I have gone, good stuff is just delivered to someone else. I know everything is price driven. Thoughts?

Craig--If the only reason you were coming was the thought of selling your pumps, I'd explore a closer market first! If you're looking to buy some stuff too, that takes the edge off and adds another reason for the trip. The entire Iowa Gas experience is GREAT, but you have a few strikes against you with no room or vending space. I would think you could take the $1800 off the price of your pumps and market them locally pretty fast and save yourself a week on the road! On the other hand--people are coming from just as far, with no reasoning at all for why they are making the trip! LOL

I look at it like a golf vacation or fishing trip. It may not make sense money wise but if you have a good time it is worth it.

I bought just one item last year. But I have never had the chance to purchase it before. I don't know about others but my clock is ticking. If it does not take food off the table, whats it matter anyway. Larry

The only Bad fishing trip is IF the boat Sinks & you loose your gear! You can't catch fish IF you don't go fishing & ya can't bitch about Iowa Gas IF ya don't go!
Don't start w/ the B.S. IF IT WERE ........ When there is a Graduation, Funeral, Wedding, Birthday that YOU/WIFE WANT to attend, YOU make plans & take/receive days off.

Hey Craig, Don't forget the airport is like right across from the show, it may be cheaper for you to just fly instead? You could get off the plane and literally walk right over. Sell the pumps at home. I always just stay up the street at the Fairfield Inn, its really nice there. If you buy some stuff, just box it up and ship it home. Its just a thought, I live about 12 hours away and I'm considering just flying one year. Good Luck.

Everything I buy is heavy and selling is the same. Air port does sound good though, but who would haul for me. I ended up hauling for others last time I was there. By the way Dick, it was alot of fun at the hotel watching people come into other peoples room. Miss the extra food.

Craig,
I had the same dilemma. 2000+ miles from Maine. I'm bringing my wife under the guise of showing her the Rocky's (Not the guy we know from NY). Come joint the party.
P.S. I went with the fly out drive back option.
May have room to in the Box truck to haul back treasures back East of I-80 if anyone may need help or has a load please send me a PM.
