Damn it already. Was watching this yesterday for only about 5-6 hours and then it got pulled. I was going to bid sooner or later but of course hadn't yet and the guy must have brokered some back door deal or something cuz it was then pulled. Cool little piece!!! I'm of course assuming it to be authentic. I've never seen one before.

I had never seen one before and it made me think of something that I never would have thought of coming from the generation that I do. And that is that back in the day with real full service that there would be a sense of tipping the attendent(s). It just never crossed my mind before that this could be something that people might do.

I have never seen that sign before either, would have bid if not pulled. Someone must have stepped up for it to end so early.

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Good eye batter!!

It's funny you posted this. Cuz whenever I see what seems to me a new Sunoco sign, I actually always think of that posting by Dan, and I think I bet he had one in there. I just dont always go and look.

Saw one at Peotone last year & overheard someone say they thought it meant not to tip over the gas pumps on the island.
I told them,I doubt it.

Still would be interested in knowing why the auction ended or got pulled. It's definitely a cool sign and real too. You need to get that Steve.

Dan, when it comes to Sunoco signs, you rule the roost in my small world of oil and gas. You have more fine Sunoco signs in one place than anywhere else these rookie eyes have seen. I love your collection!!!
As for me getting one of these, well I couldn't agree more!!

That's what I was thinking!!! From back when Sunoco was raising cattle for some early methane experimentation. I read about it on wiki!!

...I'm sure it got pulled because someone offered what the seller thought was more money than he'd get, by simply letting the auction run its course...

...I'm just glad I talked you into buying that one at Mason-Dixon, dude...
