I've been told, reminded and kidded about some of the items that have found there way to my home... And for the most part; people have been/are right... I do at times collect some strange "stuff".... My latest "craze" is paper and balsa advertising airplanes. There is at least one Company (Mobilgas); that I haven't laid my hands on one of their planes, yet... But, there might be more out there that I have never noticed? So I am asking for some insight from the Membership on theses "GREAT" (IMO) Advertising items.... If you have an Oil Company Marketed Paper and/or Balsa Airplane, please share an image... So far I have: 1934 Gulf Oil paper "Glider" (dated on plane): 1950s Chevron paper "Glider": 1950s Gulf Balsa "Glider":

...I believe there is a Pure Firebird balsa airplane out there...and there's a Styrofoam flying Gulf logo that I just remembered...that one's pretty recent, though...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

The paper airplane I hope to acquire is this 1930s (and reissued in the 1950s) Mobilgas Pegasus "Glider": So are there any other "Paper and/or Balsa" Gliders out there that have not caught my attention? I've asked a few other Collectors and one name that seems to come to the "Forefront" is Gilmore Oil... Is there/are there "Gilmore Gliders" out there? Balsa gliders from Shell, Skelly, Standard?.... Others?.... Any help on this subject matter; will be greatly appreciated! Bob

Bob, you should have gone to Iowa Gas. I saw at least three decks of cards with petro logos on them, tons of matchbook covers. There was even a box of matchbook cover that contained at least 200, asking price was $30.00 for the whole box. Admit tingly not all petro, but still enough that I thought it was a good price. Most of the many smalls I saw were in the room-to-room, all kinds of stuff you collect.

Jack, I would have loved to go to Iowa. Or to go to some of the larger shows... They are all too far away... Travelling long distances by vehicle and/or plane is not advised by my Drs, at this time...
Too much of a chance of blood clots developing in my lower extremities by having to sit so long...
By what you and others observed, I see that many Collectors are rediscovering and exploring the "World of Smalls", again... LOL

Well I have a couple "new" images to add to the "list": 1970s-2000s(?) Valvoline glider: Dave Rowlison, has a unopened packaged styrofoam glider from the Leonard Refineries Company... Anyone have such a glider and/or an image of one "put together"... Dave would like to find another before opening the packaging... (I would like to find at least 1 myself... LOL)

Bob,
By the time I go to the next petro swap meet I will learn a little more about my tablet. I have your email, take a pic of things you like, email it to you with the asking price. You tell me to buy it for you or not.
Another thing, I can email you pics of the meet and you can put them here on OG, that way guys could see things as they were happening.

Thanks Dave. Funny how once the "ball starts rolling"; how many of these type smalls seem to pop up....
Jack, that sounds great. My budget is small, so I most likely won't be able to afford much... (I seem to be able to find more than my fair share of inexpensive items)
Posting images from the Shows, I like doing... I feel as if I am there, on a limited basis... Thanks to Mick, for including me in "this years IG"... LOL
Thanks to Paddy, for the phone call...
Also, thanks to everyone who posed for the IG "Motley Crew" photo... I know some of the faces and once db "performs his magic". I and others here, will be able to place more faces with more names...

And thank you Alan, for posting an image of it...

Rick, I think that you and the "chimps" might be out on the water... Living on your Yacht.. So I am taking a chance, that it might be safe to add another image to the balsa airplane list? One from the late 1950s, possibly into the early 70s, before the embargo?: (the image is from the 'net, not one I put together... LOL)

Kites were a big thing when I was a kid growing up in the prairies during the early 70's. I like the graphic's on the AC kite.

It has been awhile since anything was added to this thread... Now that I have the Associated Aero-Plane, I thought I should "refresh" it, a little... Bob, I have been looking since April 29th for this airplane. I knew I had one, but I just had to find it. I think I have more somewhere in a box and if I find them, I will post them. Hope this helps. Larry
