There is not much difference in price between the two versions. It`s about desirability. The "glass windows" you refer to are known as ad glass. Wayne and other pump companies would build pumps with or without ad glass according to what the oil companies or jobbers wanted. As far as collecting, a lot of guy`s prefer the ad glass models. My brother & I have different versions, some with 4 ad glasses 1 with ad glass on the doors and 2 with no ad glass at all. We have 2 cut down 70`s that also do not have ad glass. WE LIKE ANY WAYNE 70. Like many people have said on this site before,if this pump pleases YOU and the price is right,go for it.---Greg

Glad to see you got the pump. I would not try to cut out the panels to fit ad glass. The 70`s that take ad glass have a special chrome plated frame that that secures the glass in the pump. Any other way of mounting would look strange. Just my opinion.-------Greg

If you are careful you may be able to do it. The cleanest cut would probably be made with a plasma cutter. Body shops usually have one of these. When you look at a picture of a 70 with ad glass, the frame is a rectangle with rounded corners. In addition because of the way the frame mounts in the panel, reliefs have to be cut in the rectangle. Personally, I wouldn`t risk messing up a good pump. There`s plenty of straight 70`s with ad glass that people will sell or trade.---Greg

I may be weong here but I thought that the repo bezels had studs welded to the back. If this is so than order a set and what add glass and cut to fit. A jig saw will work good also to cut. Hole saw the corners if yo want the radius. I know the window bezels are this way but cant rember the add glass been a while since I saw that pile of parts. I would call youre parts supplier and see. Hope it helps

hey dondogarage,
that pump looks to be in REALY good shape. i have one just like it. they almost look a little plain with out the ad glass, but! i two toned mine and it looks awesome. red top and sides and white doors, done in texaco fire chief. heres another thought, if you wanted to add the add glass to the sides, it's not that hard. just remember the side add glasses are smaller than the front's. it's actually realy easy, especially if the sides are off. make a template from someone elses that has ad glass sides, making sure the notches are there. this is so the stainless trim fits the hole. i'm sure you can find someone on here that has em. get some repop glass, and your in business. if you need a template let me know and i will help ya. i can cut one and send it to ya if need be. but my two cents, leave the front bare, put add glass on the side, and two tone the pump for whatever brand you want to do. it helps to break up an otherwise plain pump.

thanks guys. disassembled my pump last night. sandblasted it today. it does have a light manfold with two sockets. dont know what they would have illuminated but they are there. maybe they put them on all pumps add glass or not. we took this pump off a 500 gal. tank on a farm the farmer said it had been there since it was new. thanks again.

The light manifold you found was to light the faces. thats why there is only 2 sockets. 70`s with ad glass have 4 sockets.

The 2 lights illuminate the faces. The 70's that have add glasses have the 4 light manifold plus another light on the top of the manifold for a globe if used. So the 4 addglass models had a 5 light manifold if a globe was used. Kent.
