I'm a fan of old bakelite radio and today I bought this wonderful bakelite radio from 1946 made by Woolaroc, I found inside the radio that it was produced by the oil company Phillips 66, Petroleum Co. was it common for oil company to produced other things than oil and gas ? and where those radios were sold ? or were they made only for the gas station ? I'm quite curious as it's the first time I came across that

I too enjoy old radios... Here is an image from a 1948 radio/phonograph owner's manual.... I remember visiting "older Stations" in the 60s that still had radios on shelves in the office. Whereas most, if not all, of the "modern Stations" had become "sterile and sanitized" with no products on shelves in the office... I have an image of a Gas Station that has radios, auto products, small appliances... etc... on such shelves in the office... I will try and locate the image....

I collect also early bakelite radio's. I have two Goodyear and a Firestone radio. They are put away, even the tubes inside are marked Firestone.
