I know a guy that has a Wayne tall ten. He's about 75 years young and is thinking of selling off some of his unrestored pumps. What would be a fair price for a nice straight pump w/ a cracked cylinder? Is this a pretty rare pump? Can you find a glass cylinder for one? I sure would appreciate any advice or ideas on what it's worth. Thanks again.

It would help to know the Model #.
As far as the cylinder goes, try to save it. Finding a replacement will be ROUGH [try useing a windshield repair epoxy]. OR, you can replace it with a plastic cylinder.

I'm not sure on tall ten glass size, but there is a 10-1/2" x 36" cylinder on ebay right now, auction number 7152571085. You could also try Jim Steeves in Rochester NH, he has access to some very nice new cylinders. Email me if you need his contact info..........

I'm pretty sure it's the 615 tall, or the 515 version. I don't think there would be a difference in the size of the cylinder. Yeah I know about the cylinder on e-bay. I'm trying to find out if a 10 1/2 x 36 is the right size for sure. Can't tell if it's for a Fry or a Wayne, or whatever... This forum is the best. I'm fairly new to the hobby and have learned alot from everybody who posts. Being from the city where alot of these pumps were made (Wayne,Tokheim, and Bowser) really makes them special to me. My Dad turns 60 this weekend and some of our best memories have come from messing around in the garage with an old gas pump.

Because the cylinder on ebay has top & bottom rings, I have to lean towards a FRY pump. Never seen a WAYNE with rings.

Maybe on one of your rainy days, you could go to the museum in Fort Wayne and take some pictures of the BOWSER SALESMANS SAMPLES, THEY HAVE ON DISPLAY. Then post pictures for others to see.
Years ago someone sent me pictures [lost them]. There was a GASOLINE CABINET #10, #50, #41 W/ UNDER GROUD TANK, #565, ROL-WAY TWIN #22

Dick I think you're right about the cylinder. I'm think I'm gonna pass on it. What would be the chances that I could find a Fry tall ten. It's been hard enough trying to find a Wayne. You don't know which museum in Ft. Wayne had salesman samples do you? I love history and have been to all of them. They only have pictures of the old factories along with two pumps on display a Tok. 850 and a Wayne 615. Both of them are unrestored (mint condition) and were donated by the company that made them. I'd be happy to take some pics and post them for everyone. I own a hardwood floor business and recently got to do a bid for a developer who wants to renovate parts of the old Bowser plant. The old-timers that designed the building had style. Herringbone brick and solid maple floors throughout. Hopefully something will come of the buildings, as of now they're just rotting away. Oh yeah, what should I offer the guy on the pump...

Sorry gasandoildude. I can't remember the last time I had enough will power to pass on an old visible. All I can do now is try to make him a resonable offer and see if he'll budge. What do you think it's worth? I have some visibles and this one is in better shape than any of them unrestored.

To me any visable in rough condition is worth $300.00 to $500.00. The price just goes up from there. If it is a Fry I have seen junk go around a grand. A pic of the pump would help get a closer value on it.
