Went to Evansville
to fill the rack.
Found some cans,
and now it's back.
The rack is grown,
and ready to be shown.

Had a great time at the Evansville show. I got to see and talk with a lot of my friends and found some good items that I didn't have. Looking forward to the Columbus show. Hope to see yall there.

Looking good.
As it should
Now find the Texaco sign
The 50s version would be fine
Some of them quarts sell for lots of dough
Then you would really have something to show

(LOL)
Congrats

Tom
(Who really likes Texaco)

Hey Tom. Whoever said us collectors couldn't write poetry didn't know what they were talking about. Wait till you hear the song I am writing about "I Dreamed I Was There In Gas Pump Heaven"!! Which sign are you in reference to? I like Texaco, too!

It was nice talking with you at Evansville. Always nice to have a face-to-face with someone you only "see" online.

The rack looks great with all the cans and tubes. But a rack is like a never ending story. You find some containers from the right time period for the rack and then you "need" another rack from a different time period for some other cans, and on and on... LOL

VERY Cool!
Would love to have an oil can rack. Maybe Iowa will produce one.
Thanks for sharing.

Enjoyed meeting and talking with Jim Potts at the Evansville show. Thanks for "editing" the photos that I post. Thanks also for the hard work you do for everybody on oldgas website. Larry, I hope you find an oil rack in Iowa to display your cans (then you can write a poem). Tom, thanks for the photo of your Texaco oil rack sign. I will be looking for one like it, (you don't have a spare do ya)? Still working on the song lyrics, but it sorta goes like this: I dreamed I was there, in gaspump heaven....oh what a beautiful sight! Anyone out there got any ideas for other lyrics to the song? Thanks, Larry

I dreamt I was there, in Gas Pump Heaven……
Oh what a beautiful sight.
The pumps were all shiny, the oil rack was full,
Oh what a wonderful night.
The station attendant, he came out to help,
he had such a wonderful smile.
He said “How ya’ doin”, he filled up my tank,
and we talked for a little while.

(Chorus)
It was Gas Pump Heaven, what a beautiful sight…..
The people were very friendly….
The service was great, and the prices were right…..
Its so sad those days have ended…….

He washed my windshield,
he checked the oil,
He gently lowered my hood…….

He smiled when we talked,
And he checked all the tires,
he said that it all looked good…….

(Chorus)
It was Gas Pump Heaven, what a beautiful sight…..
The people were very friendly….
The service was great, and the prices were right…..
Its so sad those days have ended…….

As I drove away, I stopped to looked back,
he stood at the island, and he smiled right back.
I turned ‘round to thank him……
And then he was gone……
I stopped and I wondered, has it been so long…….

(Chorus)
It was Gas Pump Heaven, what a beautiful sight…..
The people were very friendly….
The service was great, and the prices were right…..
Its so sad those days have ended…….

Great song, Thunder II, Thanks a lot!! My wife and I really enjoyed it. How long did it take you to come up with that? Sometimes, our minds are somewhat creative and we can humor ourselves and then there are times, too many times, that we can't think of a thing. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
