Just picked up seven oil jars with Mobiloil metal spouts, above the word Mobiloil is Gargoyle, and below it is BB, can someone tell me what BB stands for,and it also says Property of Vacuum oil co. Who's Vacuum Oil?

Chris,
Vacuum Oil Company used the Gargoyle logo marketing their Mobiloil and Mobilgas products. They merged with SOCONY (Standard Oil Company Of New York)in 1931. Socony used the Pegasus logo on their products. After the merger they used the Mobiliol and Mobilgas names and the pegasus logo. The company was called Socony-Vacuum. Later the name changed to Socony-Mobil then just Mobil, now they have merged with Exxon and are called Exxon-Mobil.
This isn't a very detailed explanation, but it should give you an idea of the progression of the company.
The strange thing is Socony, Vacuum, and Exxon were all part of the Standard Oil Trust that the government broke up in 1911.
