I see that there's an "original" Indian Gasoline pump late advertised on eBay (Item 7136801036). The plate is clearly dated "3-12-45" in the lower-right corner.

The Texas Company discontinued Indian Gasoline in 1943.

Odd, ain't it?

Jim,
I saw this Indian sign earlier but didn't know exactly when Texaco stopped marketing Indian gas. However, the March 1945 date was suspect to me since this was still the height of WWII and materials were scarce. I believe few, if any, porcelain signs were produced at this time. (I have two Indian pump signs, both dated 1940.)

That being said, the sign does look genuine at least from the poor images shown. The repops of this sign generally have an off color green and tend to be flat (rather than the slight curve of the originals).

The bidders seem to believe it's genuine!!
