I'm currently working on a Wayne 866. It's pretty rusted-up, but from what I can see, it was a shell pump. I can see 4 holes on the doors where the Contains Lead" sign was attaches, but there are no holes where a pump plate was attached. It does look like there was a Shell decal attached. I'm not going to "restore" it to a Shell pump, but rather Texaco Fire Chief. My question is, do I use pump plates or decals? Also, can someone please tell me what the dimensions of the clock faces are; I'm not sure the ones on the pump are original. They look too big.

Hi Steve. I wold encourage you to buy the PCM Guide to Gas Pump Restoration. It has all the paint codes and how pumps were signed/decalled for each period. If you do it in a Texaco 1935 (That's when they made that pump according to Jack Sim's book) era they had decals, placed 4 inches below the dial glass. They also show the globes.Get the book and you can see the different types of decals. Good luck, I am a Texaco guy my self

Shell did also use pump plates and if you have some originals you are a lucky guy. As far as texaco they used pump plates from the late 30's until they late 60's on almost all of their pumps. I would use pump plates for sure on your application. Remember it is your pump and you do what appeals to you.
As for the size of your faces I am not near my pump to measure but I think they are 12 by 10 inches or so. Somebody should be able to answer this correctly. Ted
