This should be fun to watch. Wonder if it was an old gas member?

Someone would have an instant collection. I hope who ever buys it does not try and resale all of them at the same time and flood the market with common globes.

The globes belong to a friend of mine. He is not an OLDGAS member, he doesn't have a computer. He has been in the hobby for many years. You couldn't ask for a nicer guy to deal with. Brady

Looking at all the pictures the globes look very clean so that will help the price

Looking at that collection and discussing the value makes you realize just how quickly you can build up a pretty hefty nest egg in this hobby, a few dollars at a time. In looking through the pictures that they did post, there wasn't a lot of globes that are particularly rare or high priced yet multiplied times 134 it really adds up.

is it possible that the person selling these set a high reserve & is just trying to get an idea of value on his entire collection? Perhaps maybe even for insurance reasons?

I can tell you for sure that he has not set a high reserve for any other reason than to sell his globes for what he thinks is a reasonable price. I'm not a globe guy, I've always thought he was a bit high on the pumps that he has sold in the past, so perhaps he feels his globes may have a higher value as well, I really couldn't say. Brady

Is this post really necessary? A close friend of mine works with handicapped and mentally challenged kids. Seeing a post such as this is pretty sad and tasteless.

Shotzy13. I deleted the poster that you found offensive. Didn't want to offend anyone. But rather make the point that, eventually all collections come up for sale. That is a fact.

What is the purpose of trying to create conspiracy theories or whatever by trying to speculate in a public forum why they are being sold.

Could be one of a million personal reasons. Least of which is trying to figure out a current market evaluation for insurance purposes.

Plain and simple; Why, can't we just accept the fact, that an owner has decided to part with a collection and has chosen to use e-Bay to sell it.

Dave, I was just simply asking if that was possible... nothing more, try not to over-read the post. would you rather i post meaninglessly, like 'nice collection' - this is a discussion forum

I know a local collector who recently lost part of his collection due to a barn fire, & in order to cover his collection on insurance he needed documented proof of current market value. I was just toying with the idea that doing this on ebay might be an easy & quick way to get that evaluation.

no conspiracy theory intended, lol... but now you managed to upset & offend another member, nice work.

I'm just enjoying watching the sale of such a large collection.
Its currently at $44544.00 and that is just $332 per globe, so theres plenty of room for more money. I wonder if it will sell?
