Picked this up yesterday. I believe it is from the 1930's. It is a porcelain barber pole It has a hand crank that you insert into the bottom of the pole to crank it so it rotates.

I collect local items among other things. This past weekend I was able to purchase from a local auction an incredible 100 plus year old sign, advertizing a flour mill that is just down the street from where I live. The building is in poor condition but there are plans in the works for a rehab.
It came from the living estate of a friend that had been an auctioneer for over forty years. He told me that he had removed the sign from the building and removed the paper off of it. The building has been vacant longer then I can remember, and I have been in this city for thirty years. I have several local signs and had never seen this one. What a find !!!!!

Now thats a beautiful sign. Who was the manufacturer? Is it on the smaller size?- Haven't ever seen that before! Thanks and congrats.

Meek Co. of Coshocton OH. made the sign. The company went by Meek, from 1905 threw 1909 then became the American Art Works Co. {they made the Coca Cola plates etc}

It is not a large sign. A little larger then a Texaco Firechief pump plate. It is tin with a cardboard back.
