Can anyone tell me if its possible to find parts for this pump..its really rough and im thinking about just letting it go. No top and one side gone. Sure looks like it was pretty though. Still has outside glass meter. Glass broke of course. Might drag it to Auto Fair in Charlotte to sell. Had it for 2 years and still not finding enough parts. Suggestions??

National A-1 parts are hard to find. Before you let it go at that swap meet, give the guys on this site a chance at it. Somebody else may have an A-1 who could make one good pump out of two parts pumps.

Or contact Larry Ivy (larryivy@cox.net) He is always looking for National pumps with the curved ad glass tops.

Let me just give you all my general opinion about looking for parts for a piece of equipment, that needs a great deal of parts.
First of all I do not recomend purchasing anything that is not pretty much complete. If it just needs a couple of items, OK, advertise maybe someone has them.
But, if you find something that needs a great deal of parts, rather than trying to find them all, consider it a parts item and how about being the person that helps the other guys out. Strip the item and sell the parts to help them finish their restoration, use the money to finish your project. This way we all come out ahead. Don't ever purchase something very old, and in needs of parts thinking someone will take apart his similiar item and sell you the parts. Sooner or later, someone has to part out something he has.

I would NOT part it out till YOU are tired of looking for the parts.

About 5-6 yrs ago I bought a base & frame for a VICTORY VISIBLE. Last year I got LUCKY & traded for an almost complete head unit for it. Still looking for the glass cylinder.
